Next seasons opposition
« on: May 14, 2023, 08:58:17 AM »

Aldershot
Altrincham
Barnet
Brackley or Kidderminster Harriers
Borehamwood
Bromley
Chesterfield
Dagenham
Dorking
Eastleigh
Ebbsfleet
Flyde
Gateshead
Halifax
Hartlepool
Maidenhead
Oldham
Oxford City or St Albans
Rochdale
Solihull
Southend
Wealdstone
Woking
York City

So we will know the make up of the league totally by later on today save for an AGM intervention reprieving Torquay and demoting Southend.

Still lots of travelling but less than last season

Southend will be fine.
Although losing Torquay is a shame.

That looks a tougher league than last season. No obvious dross.

Looks like Oxford City have done it; very happy for them and it has spared us yet another London trip!

Bit of a stretch to regard St Albans as part of London.

Given we've lost 3 northern clubs (Wrexham, Notts & Scunny) and gained 4 (Rochdale, Hartlepool, Fylde, Kiddy) there's going to be some distant Christmas / New Year pairings.

Assuming they'll send Solihull down the M40 to Oxford, it'll mean a toss up between us and Chesterfield to pair up with Kiddy. Given Chesterfield have lost their 2 closest neighbours anyway, I reckon they might send them across to Kiddy and pair us up with Fylde.

Either way I think it'll be Fylde or Kiddy, although last year I definitely didn't think it would be Halifax...

Just outside the m25, so yes yet another London satellite team along the lines of Woking or somewhere like Dartford if they had come up... anyway not looking to split hairs, just happy that Oxford and now Kidderminster have given us some slightly closer games than other teams who may have come up!

I'd say it looks a lot more open, for sure - hard for anyone to call.

Chesterfield will fancy their chances of getting it done this time round, whereas I'm sure the likes of Oldham will probably go a lot closer now they've potentially bottomed out. I'm sure Bromley and Borehamwood will finish around the playoffs like they usually do, and Barnet will have a chance too.

Rochdale finished the season stronger and might not do as badly as people think, and I think Hartlepool will probably be OK too. Certainly better then Oldham and Scunny rhis past year.

At the bottom, the part time sides will start as the underdogs again - Maidenhead, Wealdstone - plus you'd probably suspect Oxford and maybe Kidderminster too. Ebbsfleet and Fylde should be fine. Dorking might suffer second season syndrome, and Aldershot might be down there again.

A tough looking league next year. There are so many variables to consider. How will relegation impact on Rochdale's finances? How will yet another failure to get promoted impact on Chesterfield. Southend's financial situation is ropey to say the least and i have a hunch that Hartlepool will struggle.
Yes, Oldham should be better and I think Fylde will be a dark horse for the play offs.
I think the bottom 6 speak for themselves (just hoping we're at the top end of those 6.
