I can only echo the aforementioned expressions of angst at the disquieting prospect of Byrne and Gould being our goalkeeping options next season.

I'm guessing that both Brockbank and Cooper are halfway through two-year contracts?

I’m happy with the list. Goodson looked so lightweight up front at Aldershot, and whilst I believe he is a quality finisher I think other aspects of his game were well short of National League standard. Perritt was underwhelming and whether it was his decision or ours that he is gone, I’m not worried about losing him. I can only assume that Osbourne and Brockbank are still under contract.

I'm sure some of our players are on 2yr contracts therefore retained includes some of these.
I'm happy with that, goodson probably is a hot prospect but like Berry when he went to macc will batter it lower down the league.  A costly way to hold on to a player in case they make it, i suspect we dont have that sort of cash

Does being retained mean they are actually staying though? As others have said, some are under contract but we might be offering them around with maybe the hope of a fee. At this stage it might be too expensive to terminate contracts so a transfer out would resolve that. Not that I know much about how these things work

I'm sure we'll see another 'keeper arrive in the summer, its a too glaring deficiency not to be addressed.

On the keeper front TT wasnt great in his first season but then improved massiveley .Perhaps the same will happen with Byrne .

It's a valid point. TT was a scapegoat on the forum on a regular basis at one point. That said, if the right player becomes available I'd like to think we'd explore it.

A few surprises on the retained and released lists. Really thought Zak Goodson would have been given a proper go, but hey ho. A bit disappointed that a really dreadful defence has been largely retained.
Presumably, a new RB, RW and LW have been identified, as they are glaring gaps in the squad - I suppose we're all hoping for Tyrese and WH, but most of us were saying the same about Perritt and Ferguson last season and that didn't end well!
We must believe in PP and pray that he has a few aces up his sleeve.

If Byrne starts the first 5 games poorly then we really need to look elsewhere. Huge season for him.
Can't argue with the rest of the release list.
Parky and Neil's biggest recruitment summer, in my opinion.

Think we can honestly do better than sinclair. Good in patches but invisible in a lot of games. Goodson needs game time. There's a player there but bit too lightweight for that league at the moment.

Sinclair is definitely good enough for us; if he hit the same standard every week he'd be playing in League One, i think that's probably true of a lot of players at this level.

I’m not sure playing 5 games then realising that your no 1 keeper isn’t cutting the mustard would be good planning.

Having a dependable keeper who will boss his area and talk to his defenders is, IMHO as important as having a bloody good striker… Linney could be the man up top.

Brian Clough was of the opinion that the goalkeeper was the most important player in your team. I tend to agree with his view.
