Be nice as a Pro Club to put this out, and not be waiting till they rocked up on trial elsewhere.

It always takes me aback how quickly these are released, particularly in the Football League - some seem to come out as soon as the last ball is kicked.

Gives those released the best possible chance of getting themselves fixed up quickly I suppose.

I like it in the sense that it quickly progresses a club and its fans to the next chapter. It works for bigger clubs particularly as speculation online around their players is more rife so it's better to own that news as quickly as possible.

It does treat the players a little like cattle, but it's effective.

I can also see why a club would want to take their time over this, particularly a club like us, as posting a list of players we are 'negotiating new deals' with will no doubt alert other clubs to their availability.

I think the most annoying aspect of the process is the drip feeding of sign ups. I'd much rather have a list of those who've re-signed once the process is completed.
It's not exciting, it's frustrating.

The biggest concern would obviously be Josh Lundstram - although I'd be amazed if he wasn't already on a two-year deal.

That said, we should be considering offering him improved terms if it is within the budget to do so.

As far as I can see, only 4 teams out of the 24 have currently 'declared'.

We seem to be in crisis every summer judging by the forum - we know targets are being identified and internal conversations will be happening with our players as we speak.

Let's just be glad we're not in Morecambe's position; they'll probably be assuming their natural level alongside us the season after next.
