Notts County Match Thread

Think I may have deleted the original thread  by mistake . Apologies to  whoever started the thread .A tough game with a few changes,  a draw would be a great result.

Yeah I started a thread - thought I'd gone mad!

Basically I suggested a mixture of first teamers and players that need minutes the most:

                      Byrne
         Perritt  Ferguson  Baines
MWH                                       E.Jones
               Pringle  Osborne
    Burgess                        Bennett
                      Hugill

Not that it matters much, as long as we win vs Halifax, but with that midfield I think we'd be overrun and make our already poor negative goal difference diabolical!

I’d consider bringing Gould in for Byrne and the other United youngster (forgot his name) in for Baines, who hasn’t appeared for us yet! Rest Eddie too, but not sure who will fill in at LB?

I think we still have go relatively strong on Tuesday night. Notts are a fantastic side & we rest too many we’ll get absolutely done & our confidence takes a big blow before Saturday. Also think there’s a big element of players want to play in the biggest games against the best opponents & this is a big game. Ideally get our key men subbed off early, no injuries & a good performance will do me-result doesn’t matter. Be interesting to see the attendance too & how many they bring, we should be over 2k I’d assume if they bring about 6-700.

Grimsby brought 1,200 on a Tuesday. And Notts got over 16,000 on Saturday. I'm not saying you're wrong necessarily, just that they ought to bring more than that with them in a title race. Didn't we bring about 700 to Colchester in 1991?

I think they'll definitely bring four figures in all their away games until they drop points and give up on winning the league. Hopefully we can get something out of this game but I have my doubts. A heartening performance to keep morale up for Saturday would be what I'd hope for.

PS. We've got another semi final the following Tuesday as well! 🤞🏆

If we play a weak side it will get seriously messy. I’d rest Hulme as Linney is a good like-for-like and is unavailable on Saturday, and perhaps Lundstram given he played last Tuesday. The rest have just had a week off and should play again in my opinion. If we start trying to make it work with a midfield two of Pringle and Osborne, as suggested, we will get battered.

I agree with others, we need to put a strongish team out against Notts, I don't mind a bit of rotation. Players would rather play.
