FA Trophy QF York Away Match Thread
« on: March 08, 2023, 09:33:38 AM »

This is a huge game.
We need to approach United for Hugill and be starting him on Sat.
Guessing we can only have 5 loan players in the match squad?, so does limit the substiutes.
Would like to see Welsh-Hayes back at RB and Oyedele back no. 10.
Still feel we need to find our no.10 and we are very short out wide. Hulme does OK out wide, but lacks pace and the abilty to take on players. Seems the only option out right when Gysai isn't fancied and Kaja is always disappearing.
Byrne needs time out, costing us so many points. Need more confidence this Sat.

                            Gould

Welsh-Hayes J.Jones  Baines  E.Jones

              Marriott   Lundstram

    Hulme ?      Oyedele     Sinclair

                         Hugill

Subs : if we can have Hugill then my 5th loan would be Bennett on the bench. We don't have Hugill, then maybe Gysai for some pace and attacking threat.

Every player needs to be up for this, no passengers. Massive chance to get ro Wembley.

No limits on loans in the Trophy, as confirmed in Phil's interview with Brian.

Gyasi however is cup-tied.

Gyasi didn't play in Chesterfield's only trophy appearance this season, their 3-1 defeat to Coalville

Gyasi played for Gloucester in his loan spell there in the trophy

Can't see Gyasi making the squad if he's not getting a place on the bench at the minute.

Especially this one as cup tied as played for Gloucester earlier in the competition.

That's good as Ferguson will make the bench.

Is Kaja injured or dropped?

Sorry, yeah I meant more broadly. When was he last on the bench? He's barely played since he came in, which I'm imagining means he's either got a persistent injury or the management don't fancy him.

Id probably gamble with Hugill if available. As you can have 7 subs(?) and several players are cup tied it could be an interesting bench

So id go with the ops' starting 11.

Not quite as optimistic as i was when i booked a hotel and purchased a ticket tbh

It'll be Ollie Byrne or it'll be a sub keeper drafted in; I just can't see Gould playing. Our style of play (that involves a GK that can kick

I wonder if Parkinson will enquire to Maidenhead about Gyollai. Doesn't appear to be cup tied, frozen out at Maidenhead, played for Phil and been on trial here.

Can kick/play with his feet. He'd be my number 1 target in June, so be a good test.

Gyollai(sp) is long term injured I think.

Ha! not one for a chant; is he deffo injured? he got a red card, game back in against Southend, played 90, then never played a game for them again; some injury if so.

Still be my no.1 target for strengthening. I do believe the lack of competition (Gould is a coach, lets be honest and emergency cover), is a real issue. Even if we have 2 GK for August.

Given we have absolutely no idea who is available and who isn't, I don't think I can even take a stab at the starting lineup.

Unsure

Miles or Perritt - JJ or Baines or Ferguson - Jones

        Marriot Lundstrum

Maxi - Osborne - Sinclair

 Hulme

Bench : Pringle, Bennett/Hugill, Other GK, Other CB, Other RB if fit

That's as good a prediction as any I suppose. 🙄 (PS. Can't find a 'shrug' emoji)
