Yesterday's match
« on: March 05, 2023, 01:32:04 PM »

Despite the reverse of the result I expected us to get, I am not going to be negative but am going to just put it down as a minor glitch which everybody will have learnt from. I did feel much better once I listened to Phil's interview after the game. The club have made several long journeys recently, and we have had new players join or rejoin the club. Phil has identified faults and will work with the players. We are still a great side with much to play for, and we have to expect that this will sometimes happen for whatever reason.

There is still much to look forward too and unlike some clubs our season is far from over.

Whoops! Dinnertime.

Several long journeys that meant we travelled down on the day and got off the bus just before we played! Too many of us saying the same thing here; we should travel the night before to stand a better chance.

I guess costs prohibit that, though it works better at weekends.

I’m sure I read an old interview from maybe last season that said actually a lot of the players prefer travelling down on the day. Guess with family commitments that might be understandable but must admit I am surprised at how few games down south we seem to overnight for.

As the late great Gianluca Vialli once said - you either win or you learn.

We'll have established a few things from the game, despite the result.

Onwards and upwards.

This may have changes as many will have also been working full time as well. Full time with the football club only will leave more time with their families.

What do the players do, however, between breakfast and kick off - I don't know if the standard of hotel we can afford allows the players to stay there over lunch!

I expect most places they use would let them stay in the bar/restaurant facilities even if the had to vacate the rooms

Thanks Barry but I think I'll give it a swerve (as I suspect most of us on here will) 😉

As bad as Linneys miss / failed pass to Sinclair was the decision not give him offside was worse. I thought it looked miles off live and it was!

Not going to talk about the rest

I think the offside was quite a tight decision - possibly on? See attached image.

I stand corrected. I was sat in that stand roughly level with the ref and it looked at least 5 yards off live. Geometry is hard!
