Fantastic result that. I couldn’t make it because of family commitments unfortunately but if you’d told me at 10pm on Tuesday night we’d beat Woking 3-1 today I’d have been amazed, some turnaround. Linney already looks the real deal.

On a separate note, having seen some good historical research on Twitter, the average points tally to stay up since the league went to four down has been 46, although closer to 50 is not uncommon. Suspect we therefore might still need another 2-3 wins alongside a handful of draws.

Rochdale having collected 1/12 in the four games since Toby joined them & now 6 points adrift of safety is very amusing too.

So far as I'm concerned, if we're good enough to beat Woking 3-1, we're not going down, especially with Bennett returning who, as I posted previously, is at the top end this season for goals per minutes played of Altrincham players.

I also did a bit of research on the Rochdale situation ("Rothman's" year books, not Twitter!), and the least points in recent years that a team finishing third from bottom of the FL has had after 29 games is 21 for Hartlepool in 2014-15, eventually ending up with 45 points. (1.4 points per game). Rochdale were on 20 points from 29 games, and currently on 21 points from 32 games. I reckon they will need at least 21 points from 14 games to stay up (1.5 points per game). After a damaging home defeat to Gillingham in a relegation six pointer, the writing does appear to be on the wall for them.

(P.S. Twitter? I didn't realise they did footy stats!)

But Rochdale are defensively much tighter now  ;D

Rochdale fans saying Toby is head an shoulders above the rest of their team apparently. It's a shame the way he went but he was brilliant for us and can't begrudge him a move up a division. I'm sure an FL side will pick him if Rochdale go down

I think today confirmed we can compete with anyone.  A superb effort and defensively strong.  The back four were excellent as well as those already cited.  Woking did not look top 3 though.  I was a bit concerned about the state of the pitch. There seemed to be little grass on it

From the Rochdale forum. You just gotta laugh at the irony.

Don't know the name of the song or the actual lyrics but I can whistle it.

But not on here.

We saved him from Altrincham

Song, to judge by the scan, is probably "Volare" by the Gypsy Kings.
Didn't we use it a couple of years ago?

If Sinclair's available for the next one, I would now expect Cashman to be the one that drops out.

Incidentally our penalty at 25 minutes plus was the first foul awarded in our favour.
Not the first foul but hey ho!

Officials were  awful, well Ref and Pop Side AR who just wanted to argue with us fans

Much older song than the Gypsy Kings version. Was third in the 1958 Eurovision Song Contest, and Dean Martin had a go with it too.

Yes. Knew about the Italian 'combo' who performed it at the Royal Command Performance in the late 50s. Watched it live on the old black and white telly as a kid! 😉

PS. Sorry this is not very topical, been waiting to reply for a fortnight! 😉 😂😂
