Stolen flag fundraiser
« on: December 21, 2022, 11:44:01 AM »

I’ve spoken with Curzon Ashton who have been quoted £105 to replace the stolen flag.

If you would like to put a couple of quid towards this, you can do so below.

I will then forward the money to Curzon Ashton. They bought the flag for their fans.

Cheers.

Great gesture. Hopefully last night will be a wake up call to the club about some of the supporters we have been attracting this season and also the standard of stewarding at the ground. Especially so with the Halifax game coming up, where there was trouble outside the ground last season.

Apparently the stolen flag has been returned

Was it in person, with an apology Ray?

I'm not involved with flags but I guess there's some general etiquette usually observed. One being you don't nick other fans' flags, but also you don't hang your flags where the home fans stand. To be fair those Curzon fans might not have been expecting the Alty fans to stand there, but then maybe one of the stewards more familiar with the home culture might have advised them not to put them there to begin with.

A Warrington Town supporter once hung a flag at the other end of the pop side. An Altrincham supporter asked for it to be moved as it was blocking his view, and was told by a steward words to the effect of that they weren't going to get involved as they did not want to stir things up. In the voluntary days I think. Incidentally what are we paying these agencies for now? If we are to be made to feel uncomfortable entering the ground and all the rest, one would hope that we would be getting certain minimum standards in return. I seem to remember one of our supporters pretty much going ballistic about apparent double standards over the rails thing at the Stockport friendly (and one of their supporters still complained on line about pernickety stewards afterwards). Please, let's get it as right as we can. I  don't like to criticise, but after all my mate was among the (voluntary) stewards who got criticised over the Witton/Woodley CSC debacle. We have a right to answers I think when we are paying good money for these people.

It was posted back by someone. For the record it wasnt me, but I spoke to the individual who posted it back.
