Any chance the Maidenhead match will be on?
« on: December 10, 2022, 07:04:48 PM »

Looking at the forecast for Tuesday with a maximum predicted temperature of one degree Celsius (about 34 degrees), I would expect it to be well below freezing by ten p.m. and even cloud cover would seem unlikely to save us. Should I write this one off?

A bit of a silly one from the National League having games midweek just before Christmas and on the same night as a World Cup Semi Final.

Who cares about a world cup semi final when the Supers could move one point off the play offs?!

Needs an early call to prevent the visitors traveling.

Was always an odd decision regardless of the WC to schedule a full set of midweek games this close to Christmas & in the depths of winter.

Re the snow it had largely turned to slush in Sale by late afternoon & it was hardly a thick blanketing in the first place but the fact that the temperature barely gets above freezing between now & Tuesday night is the thing that will do us I fear. As others have said we’ll need to tell Maidenhead by Tuesday lunchtime so not much time to play with. I wonder if we still have any kind of frost cover?

Peered into ground earlier, pitch covered in about an inch of ice and no covers in sight. I assume we sold the covers as they were useless and only covered less than half the pitch.

I expect game to be off if temperatures stay low, its freezing here now

You've certainly got the right name for this one, Frosty! 😉

No sign of covers. They’re under the snow! 😜

The club will be issuing a status report with regard to the pitch this afternoon.

Do we have covers for the entire pitch, or only part of it?

Would be good to keep on playing if there's a chance we can do so.

That's what I meant.
I've lost track of what the situation is as regards covers. I have some dim memories of an appeal to raise money for them but I don't recall much more than that.

Is this it?

Cover or not, I think it unlikely that we'll manage to get the game on tomorrow.  Both teams have played 23 games, which is more than most and may sway opinion against risking it.
