A good result , I wonder if County would release Newby as they did with Alex Reid and then we could sign him  ?

Good result. Well done lads.

Not sure an unfit Jackson and Jennings out wide was the way to see the game off. Nearly backfired, but we got over the line.

Baines is such a solid defender. Toby had a decent 2nd half.

E.Jones assisting again, great to see our fullbacks driving on.

Newby is what we need. Would be a great signing.

Strange, as Jordan would have been a better sub than Dinanga, as he is better at keeping hold of the ball to see the game out.

A game that I felt Alty controlled for the majority of the proceedings but we didn't really capitalise on some promising openings.

I thought that Eastleigh were rather ordinary. Some occasional neat passing in triangles but they largely flattered to deceive.

What an utter embarrassment Eastleigh's No.2 Brennan Camp was in his pathetic simulation/writhing about in apparent agony in a bid to get Colclough sent off in the second half. He was rightly and roundly abused for his cheating by the main stand for the remainder of the match.

A satisfying three points in the face of two forthcoming away fixtures.

We don't half make it hard for themselves, do we? Eastleigh looked completely toothless and yet they still managed to get on the scoresheet (and nearly snatch an improbable equaliser once our usual panic set in).

First half hour was excellent and we should have had more than the solitary goal we did score.

I'll have to see the highlights but surely a more confident keeper comes to claim that before it even gets to the head of the number 9 - surely it's got to be a better option than to stay completely rooted to your line. Great stop in first half injury time though, and I thought his distribution was pretty strong all game today.

Eddy Jones looks much better than he did a few weeks ago - great to see him get beyond Coco and get to the byeline. Toby looks like such a classy operator now - really improved on the ball - unfortunately for him it means he'll probably continue at right back for a while now.

Baines certainly isn't much of a footballer, but he's a cracking defender - and sometimes that's exactly what you need back there. I can see why he isn't a full back - just doesn't have the game to play there at all.

Lundstram - Marriott pivot is awesome. I do wish we'd have seen Pringle at 10 when we started to see less of the ball, but Parky just doesn't want to do it.

On the note of subs, surely Jordan would have been a better option out wide than Brad Jackson.

Elliot Newby is excellent and we need to do everything within our power to keep him on a permanent basis. Obviously I was dead pleased when he arrived, but given his main criticism has often been his end product, I thought his approach play around the final third was brilliant and he seems to understand his team mates well. He's exactly what we needed.

Newby: 3 in 4 for bottom half Alty...
Mooney: 2 in 16 for playoff chasing Southend...

Dinanga did everything required.

He did indeed, just strange at the time.
Playing Jackson and Jennings out wide was maybe a risk.

1st half was probably the best I’ve seen us this season in terms of shape and control. Really well organised to stop them creating anything and still looking dangerous going forward. Couldn’t quite maintain the control in the 2nd half but still were on top for the majority. Don’t want to get carried away but I really thought today was a good step forward.

Also, the fact they finished the job despite a late scare will serve them well.

Getting Marriott back fit and playing is a major reason the team is playing better, we are now more solid in Midfield

If Isaac had been fit from the off , we would probably be in the top half at least by now .

Decent enough performance against a toothless Eastleigh.

Marriott makes a massive difference to the team.

Essential we keep Con-Clarke and Newby
