Player fails in a set system, gets written off completely. It's the Alty way. Almost as Alty as getting giddy over a trialist with yellow boots.

Yup.

Osborne isn’t a bad player. Bit of recency bias at play I think.

Deservedly dropped in recent weeks after poor performances but until then was a weekly
6-7/10 every game. Lundstram and Marriott must start for me, but I’d be tempted to put a third central midfielder in on Saturday.

100% agreed - reminds me of our last relegation season where I'm convinced that, despite his individual shortcomings, having O'Keefe in there alongside Moult and Richman in a much more solid 451 - rather than trying to accommodate James Lawrie in a 4411 - would have probably seen us safe.

Remarkable current similarities - Osborne is O'Keefe, CCC is Lawrie - no offence to CCC, but I do see the benefit in having another more orthodox midfielder in there.

Loose passes can be forgiven more easily at 10 - compared to, say for example, giving Paul Mullin the ball in our own half (Osborne actually did this last season of course).

The team setup is greater than the sum of its parts.

You know what mate I half-typed out an O'Keefe analogy in my original post but couldn't make it work! You've done it justice, I'm with you on this and think it's a very similar situation.

He's not a bad player, but drops a horrendous goal conceding bollock on a regular basis.

He's 3rd choice in the '2' in the guaranteed 4-2-3-1

Agree that he's third choice if we're playing 4-2-3-1.

I think his recent form may have been due, in part, to the amount of minutes he has played. Might have needed a rest.

                          Byrne

Jackson     Jones      Baines     E.Jones

            Lundstram     Marriott

Newby            Con-Clarke        Colclough

                          Hulme

If Con-Clarke injured then Newby no.10 and Kaja out right.

Starting Osbourne over Marriott is a sign of insanity

We need Lundstram in the middle 100%. Was going to suggest starting Jackson over Barrows before the ban.

Opportunity to dip into the loan market again?

Of all the mistakes the ref made that’s the one that gets overturned. Normally happy to have stuff picked up that the officials missed but in this case it is rubbing salt in the wound!

A message from a York City supporting friend of mine...

Big match today! Good time to be playing my lot as we are on the crest of a slump. Big lumbering striker who cannot run or score, two wingers who also do not score, a weedy midfield and defenders who give most of the goals away on set pieces. But we do have a half decent goalie (on loan). Would have attended of a 3pm kick off but going to watch on BT. Hope you do not enjoy it!!! 😁😁

Sounds like Mullarkey is available.

Think he'll replace Barrows id imagine.

Is there any footage of the Barrows' 3 game ban incident?
