Paul Stretford, yeah. He played for the club in the 80s. Certainly rustled a few feathers as he took over, as there was cricket, bowls, rugby all going on at the ground. People complain he's made it all about the footy there now but the club was about to go under when he stepped in tbf.

I used to enjoy my trips to Rylands in the (Mid) Cheshire League

I can remember my one visit to Rylands, as they were then called, for football, was around 1989. when I saw our reserves, featuring Barry Diamond, play there in the Mid-Cheshire League.  They had a bit of cover, but I remember having to stoop to fit under the roof. I am quite tall, to be fair, but not that tall!

There was a much larger crowd watching the rugby league section. TImes have clearly changed since then, but Warrington Rylands still haven't attracted much interest from the Warrington public, despite Stretford's money. In contrast, Town's crowds do seem to have slowly but surely increased over the years.
