A sad read. Quite a few trips over there following Alty, hard to see them ever getting back to where they were.

You would have thought things couldn't get any worse after the Vaughan era - but you'd have been so wrong. This was a very decent club - old Cheshire League rivals, and fellow founder members of the NPL back in 1968. I only went to Farrar Road once, in the early 1970's with my then next door neighbour Bill Gregson. I think we lost 2-1, but what I remember most was the tremendous atmosphere in a packed ground. I'm truly saddened by this - I'm going to record the program tonight.
