Christmas and New Year

If Halifax don't go up, they'll play Oldham over the festive season, while come what may York will play Gateshead.

That leaves us looking at Wrexham IF they don't go up, or probably Chesterfield if they do.

I'd have thought us v Oldham and Halifax v Chesterfield with Wrexham City going up 👆.

It's 60 milles from Chesterfield to Halifax, but only 25 to Nottingham.

I think we're already looking at :

Gateshead v York City
Grimsby Town v SC**thorpe United
Halifax v Oldham Athletic

Which means we're almost certainly up against a playoff loser. If we're lucky it'll be Wrexham. If we're not, we could get Solihull Moors.

The thing is there’s geography & then there’s the police. Halifax vs Oldham and Scunny vs Grimsby both have a lot of potential for aggro I’d say so you have to factor that in. You don’t get that at Moss Lane and for those purposes we are probably seen as a safe pair of hands by GMP. If they don’t go up I reckon myself we’re nailed on for Wrexham at Christmas.

Still lots of variables in play, but if Wrexham do go up I think we're looking at:

York - Gateshead
Grimsby - Scunny
Halifax - Oldham
Notts - Chesterfield

...which I'm afraid will leave us with Solihull. They paired Wrexham with them this year and you'd argue Alty is more straightforward than that.

All other possibiilities will pair us with Wrexham:

Solihull go up - pairings as above, easiest for the league
Grimsby go up - Chesterfield to Scunny, Notts to Solihull
Chesterfield go up - Notts to Solihull

The upside is that there are three games over Christmas and new year so we can still play Oldham once!

Blimey, they changed their name already? That was quick! :)

I know Swansea Town changed their name. Am I right in thinking that they are the only ones to haver done so in a similar situation? I assume Southend won't switch to Southend City.

I reckon we'll get Oldham for the Christmas / New Year sandwich fixture and then one of the Easter fixtures like we did for Wrexham this season.

We'll play Oldham on the Bank Holiday at August and Easter (like we did Tranmere, Stockport etc.). Home in August as I imagine we'll be seen as less of a flash point if they're sh*t.

Perfect. If the council aren’t playing silly buggers then 4000+ in easy.
