Dorking up too. Not quite the same appeal as York but congratulations to them as well. A new ground to visit, Meadowbank.

A popular win given that nobody seems to like Ebbsfleet.

Part-time too, will be interesting to see what they do.
They might start singing “part time and we’re proud of it” to us and “Do you practice that all week?” 😂😂😂

We could still sing "We've been once, twice, three times to Wembley, and you've won the Surrey cup"!

You may have to work on the lyrics, Hugh, as it doesn't scan very well.

However, you have hit on something as their owner-chairman, Marc White,is also their manager, so there are certain similarities to Droylsden, although I think Marc White (who says he has other backers putting money into the club) may have more charm and money than Dave Pace.

When did we ever let not scanning stop us! To put into perspective how far they have come, apparently they won the West Sussex league fourth division North as recently as 2001. Kirkham and Wesham, who played in the upper reaches of the West Lancashire league might have been positively big time Charlies in comparison.

I suspect there are rather  a lot of people who have more charm than Dave Pace (as anyone in the Noel White Suite that fateful day will tell you)!

There was this piece in the Guardian about them recently. I am not sure quite how accurate it is, but I do look forward to going to Dorking next season, as it does look like a very nice town to visit, and they have certainly shot up the leagues in recent years, aided by Dorking FC's fall, however well funded they are.

PS How are we talking about Dorking Wanderers in a National League North thread?!

For anyone wondering about Dorking, they are one of the featured clubs on the YouTube channel Bunch of Amateurs. https://www.youtube.com/c/BunchOfAmateurs/featured

Pal of mine called Tom Gillitt lives there now (Nigel Gillitt to use his original name) and follows Dorking Wanderers.

If anybody went to North Cestrian between 1970 and 1975 they may very well know him. Or Woodheys Primary from 1965 to 1970. Lived just further down our street. Thinking of going to the Dorking away game to meet up with him again, as not seen Tom in 40 years. Faced time him often though nowadays.
