Moving On
« on: May 11, 2022, 12:09:15 PM »

I think the club have just revealed the players who won’t be staying on next season in a Facebook post.

Hampson, Densmore, Moult, Thompson, Hancock, White and Hannigan.

All great servants to the club who will be missed.

Must be the most club appearances to leave in one go ever surely. Well over a thousand between them surely

I started doing the numbers but when I got to Jake and Sean I realised the enormity of this news, and by equal measure their contribution to the club.

Surprised by Thompson going
I imagine that's an entirely financial decision based on what he earns from football and his job combined. We'd have to at least match that to make it worth his while, and that's quite probably outside the boundaries that we have to work within. He'll do a job for someone else in the NLN (just not when we inevitably draw them in the FA Cup next season).

No surprises in that list, apart from Thompson who I thought might have wanted to make the move to full-time football.

I'd rather think of most of them as having 'completed it' rather than leaving - particularly those that have seen us at our darkest moments and leave us at our strongest.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of them.

Some of our heroes going there.
If they're not playing on Sunday, I'd like to see them come out, possibly before the game, to wave goodbye and get the appropriate applause and cheers from the crowd. They certainly deserve a rousing send off after all they've done for the Club.

PS. It would be nice/interesting to see which of the people we've got out on loan are being released; and which of those who are on loan from other clubs we've got a chance of keeping hold of. (realise this may not be possible as some contracts run until June.)

These have been fantastic servants to this club who deserve a great send off on sunday.
There will be a queue of p/t clubs after their signatures !

I’m sure the lads will be on the pitch at some time during Sunday PM to either say goodbye or whatever they have decided to do for next season.

It is a very exciting time to be an Alty fan right now and Sunday will be a Bitter Sweet occasion on all sorts of levels,  be it saying goodbye to lads who to be fair have been Stalwarts of the club for many a year, and also a exciting prospect of what is to come next season once the dust has settled and we embark on a new season as Full Time Alty..

Why is this news not on the club website?  Those of us who don’t do social media would have no idea. It was the same with the full time announcement. I saw the post on here and had to go hunting for it to find out. It should be on the official website the same time it goes out to the socials.
