Interesting story in the MEN today (also on BBC) about a bloke taking £1.7m in bribes for giving out dodgy contracts to electrical contractors on behalf of his employer Coca Cola.

Money was laundered through his brother-in-law's company......and some of you will have already sussed out who that man is  ::)

Wonder if Droylsden will ever be able to return?
And at which level of the pyramid will it be if they do?
NWCL Div1 West (level 6) I'd be guessing.
Must admit I never had any time for dave pace.

I believe their ground is still used by Stretford paddock some way well down the pyramid!

Money for wages must have dried up when sponsorship money ended i.e. deal agreed in return for Coca Cola electrical fit-out contracts got rumbled

They did do, but Stretford Paddock seem to have been playing matches at the old Flixton ground on Valley Road, and also at the Nicholls Community Centre in Ardwick, more recently, so I am not sure if anyone is using the Butcher's Arms now.

If Droylsden were to reform, the North West Counties League is pretty full up with 60 teams this season (although spaces have been found for well supported new clubs like Macclesfield, Bury AFC and FC Isle of Man), so they might have to restart in the Manchester League or Cheshire League.
