Floodlights
« on: April 03, 2022, 08:07:44 PM »

Could one of the club historians please let me know what year the football club first installed floodlights?

My wife remembers the debate amongst local residents about the possible intrusion, so thinks it must be 1970s.

I think it was probably 1960s, but really have no idea..

Thank you. I will have to find a way of letting her know she is probably wrong about remembering it without making it sound like I am saying she is wrong. You know how these things go I'm sure.

Just tell her it was 1972 - knowledge is power 😉

At least you won’t have to go to the trouble of putting candles on her cake 😉

I definitely have a reproduction of that match programme from when the latest incarnation of our floodlights were installed.

I've often hoped someday we'd get lights in the corners of the ground rather than along the sides. I don't know why but those types just seem better to me.
