A bit of a National League North thread
« on: March 04, 2022, 09:30:20 AM »

Just taken a look at the league table and was shocked at how far Fylde had fallen off the pace - is there something going down over there? Looks like they're going to be stuck down there for a little while longer at this rate, Project 2022 has well and truly failed.

I didn't realise how quickly York have been coming up on the rails! - into the playoffs now, seems like sacking Steve Watson and giving him to Chester (who are now averaging less than a point a game, proper relegation form) has really done the trick.

Bill & Ben not exactly pulling up any trees at Spennymoor either, by the looks of things.

Who do we want to come up? I guess a couple of 'proper' Conference clubs like Gateshead and Kiddy would be nice, although I can't stomach another visit to that athletics ground.

Gateshead I don't particularly want to go there again. I'd like York and Kiddy

I'd like some more accessible games such as Curzon, Chorley, Kiddy, Southport York.

Tedious to have Gateshead or Brackley

Looking like the title is between gateshead and Brackley.
Love to see Curzon win the play offs with peers scoring the winner in the final.
I suppose, being practical, we've to hope that those who do come up are the least prepared.

Even though we were rubbish it puts into context our FA Cup defeat to Gateshead a bit more. I think they’ll do it-although I’ve no idea on their support how they fund a full time operation up there. Play offs is anyones guess, York seem to be the current form team but Kiddy have been excellent in recent months too. Either way it’ll be two strong and probably full time sides coming up from the North. As long as it’s not Brackley.

A similar thread on the South would be interesting. Dorking in the box seat (another loaded owner) but Maidstone have been superb in the last few weeks. I note both Oxford City & Dulwich Hamlet in the play offs, definitely one of them two as opposed to the Ebbsfleet/Dartford please to come up.

Overall a fair bet that at least 3 of the sides promoted will be full time already & there’s not going to be a Dover/Lynn/Weymouth cast adrift scenario next season (plus 4 down again of course) so it’s going to be a very big summer off the pitch, it’s time we left part time behind.

York would be good, though their new ground is a git to get to with bobbins car parking and on the edge of town. Curzon too please.

Parky already suggested by some of their fans on social media. I reckon they'll get James Rowe.

Not for him I reckon. They burn through managers that club & let’s be honest they will always be a much smaller club than us. Also a very hard league to get out of, I don’t think taking a step backwards to a league he’s already been promoted out of is the kind of career move he’s after at this stage.

Rowe effectively sacked at Chesterfield whilst top of the league.
Maybe tainted goods at present until the dust settles......which it will

I think him & Fylde are a match made in heaven, personally. I don't think they'll be put off at all.

I don't think they've got one like this. I believe it's Facebook and twitter only. (could be wrong but don't think so)

I see Gateshead thrashed Kiddy 4-0 this afternoon. And I was quite looking forward to cottage pie again next season 😂
