Wrexham Match Thread
« on: December 27, 2021, 09:09:59 AM »

I bet the Wrexham management watching yesterday are licking there lips at playing us, certainly won't have learnt much.

Massive job for PP and NS to lift the team and give us something to cheer. Were limited on whom we can pick I guess so my stab would be

Thompson
Densmore
Mullarkey
Hanigan
Senior
Moult
Pringle
Furman
Kosylo
Colclough
Hancock

That's our best eleven.
Would be unfair to put Marriott in from the start but we've got to hope he wasn't shocked by yesterday and can improve us.
You never know, we could be getting a genuine number nine parachuting in today.

Wouldn't mind that starting 11 but can't see Pringle being available. As long as Fitzpatrick is no where near its step in righy direction.

The XI at the head of this thread is literally all we have, unless Mooney makes a dramatic reappearance.
In fairness, it does look as if PP has deliberately cleared the decks for some much-needed incomings.

I'd like to see Dens too but for all his running up and down the touchline I'll be surprised if we see him on the pitch again.  :(

Brad Jackson has scored on his Buxton debut.

If he proves his fitness within the month, then I hope to God we have the power to recall him.

Agree re: Marriott too - the lad's joined us on red-hot form, why would we not want to tap into that?

Jackson substituted later - maybe still a little way off full fitness.

I see they eventually fell to defeat with 10 men - over 2,000 in attendance too.

Lovely goal Brad scored, too - for those on Twitter some lad filmed it from behind the goal and shared it (on the goal tweet of Buxton's account I think).

After the Stockport performance it is clear that 5 at the back does not suit us & seemed to show Parky going for more in defence as we've been on such a poor run... also seemed to show that we obviously have no number9 (even more evident after recent loans out)... in short we need to play our usual formation starting with a back 4...

I'd go with...

Team:

TT

Senior
Mullarkey
Hanningan
Hampson

Moult
Marriott

Kosylo
Pringle
Colclough

Hancock

Subs: Drench, Densmore/Digie, Porter, Furman, Leitch-Smith

NB if Hampson unfit then would start Dens at RB & switch Senior to LB...

Also believe Marriott must start as in form plus why bother getting him if not to be used... also if Mooney fit would start him...

Need to bounce back & show some character after such a poor run (think 1 win in 15 & out of 3 Cup comps)... normally would hope to win at home but in circs would be happy with draw... plus the performance must improve!

Would simply take any sort of positive performance from the next two games (given the opposition) and then regroup with fresh blood in the new year.
