CPR
« on: December 03, 2021, 08:10:37 AM »

Over the last few days there have been a number of incidents in or around football stadiums necessitating the use of CPR. Indeed, the Wigan manager applied CPR to one of his players. Apparently the whole of the Wigan team has been trained in CPR! May I suggest to the Alty hierarchy to consider this? I know we are part time and training time is precious however!! SBL

Life is more precious. I second your idea.

If the Community side of our club were to organise this, would love to join a session. Be it for inside or. Outside club

Great idea

But if people could get familiar with this it would go a long way....British Heart Foundation / St John Ambulance website all have training videos.

The main thing in an emergency is do not be afraid....and have a go

I remember a teacher at school in the 70s who argued that first aid / CPR was just as valuable as teaching children to swim....yet the EAs did nothing

My point being that the training is a great help.....but self training is possible.

The defib machines even come with a voice over instruction once you open the box.....do not think you need training to use these machines ......they actually  talk you through it !!!

Defibrillators do tell you what to do

In the absence of one though it is imperative that as many folk as possible are able to carry it out.

Correct. Recently did my training, they're a doddle. They do everything apart from get the  person using it a cuppa tea.

In flight or fight mode, familiarity and confidence will go a long way.

If these machines are idiot proof, I'd still be 10000x more likely to give it a go with training.

Manual CPR does need a bit of technique, but any cpr is better than none. At present don't do any rescue breathing, due to the covid risk.
