Final Match Thread of the Season
« on: May 27, 2021, 08:09:34 PM »

Get on the front foot and entertain us.

                     Thompson

Senior  Malarkey   Hannigan  Ogle

             Moult  Kirby Smith

       Kosylo  Hancock  Coclough.

Desperate I can't get Mooney a start.

Alty 3-1 Torquay.

What happens going to get a good send off at FT as I doubt we'll see some in an Alty shirt again

Think team as above, bar maybe Densmore instead of Ogle...

                          Thompson
  Senior   Mullarkey   Hannigan   Densmore
                Moult   Smith   Kirby
         Kosylo   Hancock   Colclough

Subs-  Ogle, Williams, Mooney, Hardy, Peers

Score Prediction: ALTY 2-1 win (Colclough, Hancock)

COYR!  :)

With a crowd of 1100 of wholly home fans we will have a 12th man - will give the team a hell of a boost.

I'd go with that team too.
Nice to see consensus on team selection!
I'm hoping for the best on Saturday. 3-2.

What gives me some hope for a win on Saturday is the fact Torquay are second win draw or lose this game. The match following it is the really important game to them i.e. the first play off game.
On the other hand it’s our final game of the season in front of an all home crowd hopefully topping a thousand.
I’m hoping those two factors will result in a home win and plenty of smiling faces leaving the JDS after celebrations at full time.

Like your thinking... hopefully we can sign off with a win and a double over the supposedly 2nd best team in our league... would be great to end our campaign with a victory for the fans!  COYR!!!

No reason whatsoever that our best team cannot at least go toe to toe with Torquay.

Just heard an interview with gary johnson on radio devon,he says he is concentrating on the play-offs,so does that mean they will rest players? On and according to the sports editor on Radio devon Torquay are playing at Antryham so maybe our game against them is off?

I've thought all week that Gary Johnson would be very likely to turn out his fringe players on Saturday. They'll be desperate to avoid any injuries to key players. We really should complete the double.

The flip side though is that they don't play for two weeks after the game on Saturday. So anyone who's not involved then won't have played for three weeks by the time of the play-off semi. So my guess is that they'll actually play their strongest team just to keep them all match sharp but look to make early subs to protect key players.

I think this too, but they will be concerned about injuries

Didn't they have their full squad on against us at Yeovil?
I seem to recall they were on a bit of a run too (but could be wrong)

Can't wait for today's game... really buzzing... not fussed if Torquay rest players or play full strength team as believe our lads can do the double with the fans behind them...

Drab end-of-season game, with neither side having anything to play for. We could have played until midnight and still not had any goals. But still good to see on Alty TV Live!
