Another fellow Hulmeian? i'd never have thought it from the gazelle, although that school does produce some formidable drinkers!

Yeah, I started going to regularily in 89-90 when I was in the bottom juniors (Year 3 I believe in today's money) at the Willows Primary in Timperley. So 8 years old. I always remember Kingy's programme notes for the last game of that season against Wycombe (a 1-0 defeat incidentally) 'We are a young side, we will get better'. How very right he was. As for secondary, I was an Alty Grammar boy, London Alty being a bit of an Alty Grammar old boys club :D

Wellgreen County Primary, Briony Lane collective etc.

Then as you were Sarf Boy, Alty Grammar for a couple of years.

Ticks were given to Wellgreen.

I personally think the leaflets should be given out at schools right across the borough of trafford and also all over wythenshawe as far as the cheadle boundry. Might not do any good, but it certainly wont do any harm, even if we only got a few extras on the gate it would be a result. We need to cast the net far and wide, FCUM are doing coaching sessions at schoools in gorsehill, thats 8/10 miles away from bury. We need to target the children from every area of the borough,Alty,Sale,Stretford,Urmston,Flixton,Partington,We are the 2nd most senior side in trafford, and have a product that is accessable and affordable to everyone in the borough of trafford,we need to make them all aware,I suggest if you live near or your child attends a primary school/secondary school thats a little bit "off the radar" then you should take some leaflets or get you child to take some leaflets to their school. We need to get these out before the season kicks in.As I said previously, I'll gladly do the north of the borough, stretford/urmston etc, Ive mentioned to people before, its great when you see the odd Alty kit up in stretford or old trafford which I occasionally do when working

LIST OF ALL THE BOROUGHS SCHOOLS IS HERE
have a look and see if theres any you could leaflet??

Well Green

Alty Grammar

Always went to most games but if I wasn't hooked before then the 1990-91 season did it for me, my fisrt year at AGS with various charachters like Renny in the 5th year.

Letting kids in free that season kept us afloat ovet the next decade, yesterday I was talking to a PE teacher at Broadoak in Partington, turned out he used to go that season and subsequently as well!

Lime tree Sale moor then Sale grammer when used to be in Ashton got kicked out after the first year as my school report read "Darren set a low standard and failed to mantain it". Then to good old knocker road and girls happy.

For those on about the leaflets please look at this post

Quite a lot of kids from Sale and Alty go to Knutsford High and a lot from Firswood/Old Trafford way go to Manchester Academy amd Trinity. Altrincham College of Arts (Green Lane) get quite a few from Wythenshawe primary schools.
I, being born and bred in Stockport went to Avondale High, soon to be Stockport Academy, the only famous person who went to my school that I know of is David Dickinson.
My other half is another former pupil of William Hulme, he and Mr Gazelle have had the regulation discussion about which staff they both knew on at least one occasion when I have been in both their company.

At a long shot, was mr Blight there in the gazelle days? I remember that he had been at the school for at least 300 years when i arrived, very bizarre man!

"Beaky" Blight was there when I (and The Gazelle) were. I was there from 73 till 80, Beaky was 167 years old when I left.

Other legends you may know depending how old you are, Geoff Turner, Bill Timm, Iain (The Turtle ) Shaw, Jack Peat etc.

Julian cu*t Wilde was a particularly nasty piece of work.
