We played at least one competitive match against Newport County, although it was subsequently expunged from history.

Ballers,

Curse you for recollecting Caernarfon Town in the Cheshire Senior Cup!

I was convinced that one would elude the majority.

Nobody likes a Smart Alec.....

Anyhow, I still have one other team on my list of eight.

My dad used to cycle from Byrom Street to Rhyl to watch us in the Cheshire League - from about the age of 12 upwards.  You wouldn't let a 12 year old do that now!

However, when he was old enough to drive, he did spend the night in a police cell in Northwich for being over the limit on his way back from a match at South Liverpool - and you wouldn't let an adult do that now either!  South Liverpool is not in Wales although they have won the Welsh Cup if I recall correctly, and Northwich were beaten finalists.  I don't think I'm making this up.

5th December 1973
FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round

Altrincham...0   Pwllhelli & District...1

Is there anyone on here who remembers attending this game?

Surely one of our most embarrassing home defeats?

Was the game played on a midweek afternoon due to power cuts and the Three Day Week courtesy of Ted Heath?

Any recollections?

Pwllhelli was a midweek afternoon kick off due to the Coal strike.I didn't manage to get off school but seem to remember that the goalscorer's name was Parry after about 25 minutes.I also have a vague recollection that Peter Eales saved a penalty. At the time we had a woeful Trophy record & this was just about our nadir.

Is there still an  eighth welsh side or are we just about done now?
