When Stan played alongside Gerry Casey, it must have been hard to play against both of them together. The photo of them both going in to that tackle at Everton made me wince!

Here's another angle of that tackle at Goodison Park:

RIP Stan, the word legend can be overused.
In Stan's case it isnt, he was a fabulously steady, loyal and reliable lad for Alty and will be much missed who watched him during all his time at Alty.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Another stalwart from my early Alty supporting days passes. So long Stan, remembered as a feisty no nonsense defender. Never afraid to get stuck in however that is defined. Sure he was instrumental in the eventual mass brawl in the home game v Mossley when we were losing 4-1 (I think) before we won the leg 5-4 after some shall we say, reorganisation. Stuff of memories. A good lad.

So sad to see another legend gone. Stan was certainly a no nonsense full back, who hated to be beaten, and I still wonder did he ever finish a match against either Eamon O Keefe or Jim Kabia  without being sent off or booked ? His goal at Bath can never be forgotten by those who were there to witness it.
Thanks for memories. RIP.

Very sad to hear this. A fixture in the Alty team when I started watching them in the early 70s.
