My guess is (and it's only a guess) that Callum was offered a deal but fancied his chances at a higher level.

I trust Phil and Neil's judgement on this one, and there's always two sides to the story; they might have been trying to tie him down for a while, but the lad has preferred not to.

Shame if he departs, because it certainly looks like he's got the potential.
