From The Messenger Website - As well as commenting on Chris Lane, the article goes on....

Heathcote has also made an offer to a midfielder who was a first team regular for one of Alty's Conference rivals last season.

Now he must play the waiting game with the player, who is keen to go part-time to accomodate his full-time job.

Also linked with a possible move to Moss Lane is former Alty favourite Colin Potts.

The winger left Alty in December last year after struggling for fitness and spent the remainder of last season at Conference North side Barrow.

But after working hard to get himself back into shape, Potts is keen for a return to the club where he made more than 100 appearances.

He was one of 18 players to take part in a voluntary preseason training session on Thursday, although he is just one of a host of players Heathcote will be taking a look at over the coming weeks.

Two players unlikely to return to Alty, however, are Kieran Lugsden and Eddie Hussin.

Heathcote had been keen to speak to Hussin about taking part in preseason training but that possibility was ruled out after the midfielder accepted a role as player/coach at Marine.

Meanwhile, Lugsden looks set to stay at Leigh RMI, where he spent last season on loan
