Brownhill also departed - see club website. The way it's being presented is that six players were given the choice of staying to fight for a place in the team or moving on, the Wright & Brownhill elected to move on. There will apparently be an interview with the manager later today.

I'm not too bothered about Brownhill going as Short is a better player by all accounts. I'm a bit disappointed Wright has chosen to leave for the easy life rather than fight for a place but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. We're a bit short of cover on the left hand side now though.

It was. I think Hulme may be an additional contracted player, but that's speculation.  Also, I thought some of the departed players would have been contracted.

Don't see the fuss to be honest, we signed a lot of players at the start of the pre-season.  For a change nearly all of them looked like footballers.

Then the manager has seen players in six games and probably 10-12 training sessions.  He has now decided the ones he definitely wants and told the others they will need to fight for their place or they can look elsewhere.

Some will do just that, some will stay and fight?  Jerome probably has mates who play at Ramsbottom, they will guarantee him x pounds and that he will probably start every week so he has gone for it.

Every signing is trumpeted these days, it's the modern internet way.
