'With his experience in this league, we felt he was the ideal choice to steady the ship and take us forward.

I'm not being negative here, just really pedantic cos I like being pedantic.  :)

But this experience in this league. Has he ever actually managed in the conference north? Was his last spell below conference level when he got Morecambe promoted in the late 90s?
Your forgetting his spell at Stalybridge lad, although easy to do because he struggled there

Hmm, is that the spell when he took them over when they were going well and derailed them by signing Danny Adams and Michael Twiss?

great news.

That should be the football side of the club under the right management and the board can go back to doing what they do best (and really well) in building up the off-field / community side of the club.
is this a serious post? After all thats been said in the press this weekend, all can just go back to normal like that?

yes - unless you think that the club as a whole will be better off by dragging this latest episode out further and continuing the infighting - what do you think it will actually achieve?

We have a manager who a good number of the fans wanted as first choice and most are very happy with, we have a board who have built up the junior and community side of the club, attracted a decent level of sponsorship and overseen the arrival of a significant long term asset (CSH) mainly through grant funding.  I can forgive the odd misjudgement in PR (and yes a couple of articles in the last 6 months still counts as the odd one now and then), no one is perfect but the current board have the club at heart and are pretty good at most of what they do behind the scenes.

But no you're right the team has been woeful, (but it's got a bit better recently), the board appointed a manager 4 months ago who turned out to be a disaster (although his appointment was broadly welcomed at the time) and there have been some shocking mistakes recently so lets keep focusing on those rather than getting behind the new manager and the club and trying to go forward in a positive attitude, that will really help. ::)

Yes, all forgiven until the next debacle. No chance of an apology or acceptance of accountability? A lot of fans now feel rightly embittered, it won't pass quickly.

Well done to the board in promptly securing Jim's services, especially as there are quite a few vacancies in local non league management at the mo.

Welcome to Alty and good luck Jim!

for some of us it will never pass

Jim Harvey sounds a decent appointment, and good luck to him

But this club is only heading in one direction whilst the current chairman is in post. The NLP comments will never be forgiven or forgotten and nor should they, the good name of this club and its supporters has been forever tarnished

ye gods - many years of loyal service, all unpaid and hundreds of thousands of hours put in is great, thanks very much, but make one phone call to specialist paper and you're "never forgiven".  A degree of balance is perhaps required?

If this was some new bloke who had been here for ten minutes then yes, we'd all be livid and upset that the club was in the hands of such a bloke, but it's not, it's a long serving fan of the club who many people on here know well (me not amongst them) and he has made a mistake - get over it.

Welcome Mr Harvey..
Good luck in your new post. Hope you can put us back in the top echelon able to be competitive and get us playing a nice style of football.
Rome wasn't built in a day and you will find that the Alty fans are a pretty patient lot and will enjoy the journey

This is unlikely to be factually correct and most of us who have a fully-formed character, who don't get out of bed on the wrong side every day, and are not embittered by the rising of the sun will forgive and be happy that we now have a better manager than we did at the start of the season.

Think the time for arguing is over now. We've got a bloody decent manager and experienced centre half in one day. Chorley might be more fun now.
