Daggers did it twice in succession if I recall...?

Craig Mackail-Smith's performance (in their title winning season) was arguably the best I've ever seen from an opposition player at Moss Lane.

I remember it well unfortunately. I know we lost 3-7 to Slough way back, but I can't remember seeing us beaten by a 6 goal margin at home in my 58 years of following the club.

There was definitely no bigger home defeat in the League all the way back to 61-62 season.  The 0-5 against Northwich was our biggest home defeat until equalled by the Dagenhams recently.

I can find nothing in the 50's but I do not have all our results.  Certainly our biggest home defeat for at least 56 years, and may be way longer

I said that last night in the bar to Flynny and Son but they didn't believe me. I always remember saying before the second game, "well at least it won't be a repeat of last season's game"......oh!

I've been back thru my records & can find no other six-goal margin of defeat at home in the history of Altrincham FC as such. I can find a couple of occasions on which we've conceded seven at home, but each time we did manage some of our own - the infamous 3-7 v Slough & a 2-7 v Chester in the Cheshire League on 28.1.1928, a couple of years before Chester got into the Football League. If you go back into pre-history, as it were, there is a record of Broadheath 1 Stretford 13 in the Manchester League (4.11.1893) - Broadheath's first season in the ML (Broadheath FC took that name in 1891 & became Altrincham FC in 1903). For the record, our heaviest defeat anywhere as Altrincham FC as far as I know is 2-13 in the CCL at Chester on 30.11.1929.
I don't propose to comment any further on this matter - it's frankly too embarrassing for words.

On that bombshell, the current team should be in no doubt what is expected of them over coming games, seriously we need to go out with the mindset of C**ting both Gainsborough and curzon, for both restoration of pride and goal difference..

Sackcloth & ashes for Niall & me.....superb recollection there, Nic.....that one really did pass me by. I would plead that I was in shock, but I still can't remember that happening twice.
