New signing
« on: June 09, 2016, 07:51:16 PM »

Altrincham press and media officer John Edwards writes that: Neil Young has increased his attacking options for next season with the acquisition of free-scoring right-sided midfielder Sean Miller from Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Pacey winger Miller, a multi award winner in his time with the Nomads, becomes the latest addition to a rebuilt Altrincham squad that is rapidly taking shape for the new Vanarama National League North campaign.

Brought through the ranks at Chester during Young’s reign as manager there, Miller, who turned 21 last month, broke into the first team towards the end of the 2013-14 season.

He joined Connah’s Quay that summer and made an immediate impact, scoring 11 goals in 35 appearances and virtually sweeping the board when individual awards were dished out by the club and the league.

At the club’s presentation evening, he picked up a hat-trick of gongs after being voted players’ player of the year and supporters’ player of the year and finishing top scorer.

On top of that, he was named Welsh Premier League young player of the year at the league’s annual meeting.

Young had no hesitation snapping him up for a second time, after hearing of his availability, and the Alty manager said: ‘Sean is a player I worked with at Chester, where I brought him through the youth system and gave him his senior debut.

‘He subsequently moved on to Connah’s Quay Nomads, where, 12 months ago, he was named Welsh Premier League young player of the year.

‘He is quick and direct. He has a great attitude, wants to do well and, at just 21, has plenty of time to continue his development.’

Just to say, this is the updated, ever-so-slightly amended version of the press release. In the original, I said Neil Young brought Sean Miller through the youth system at Chester before handing him his first-team debut. Neil did, indeed, give him his first senior outing but insists he can't take the credit for his rise through the youth ranks...

... rather than the one before that (memories of a certain miss at Stalybridge ...)
Seriously, though - as with all our new acquisitions, all the very best to him for his time at Moss Lane. May it be fruitful for all concerned.

Last season he seemed to lose his way. Only 18 starts and 2 goals. And released by Connahs Quay. Still, NY knows the lad.....but then LS apparently knew all about Josh O'Keefe.

Still probably a good signing at only 21 but let's not get carried away yet.
