"Before joining Trafford six months ago, Kielty's football career had appeared to be over, the former Ireland under 18 international taking a 22-month break from the game.

But he rediscovered his passion for football at Shawe View and is once more optimistic about the future.

He said: "I wasn't enjoying football whatsoever, it had become a hardship.

"I took up squash and it got to the stage when I was out there playing football thinking to myself I could be playing squash now'.

I think I was at that match... ;D

The burning question is just how he ever thought he could win a squash game by hitting the ball sideways all the time....
