I wouldn't fancy us to win another game this season playing 4-4-2.

Lawrie. This league is way beyond him.
he been no worse than most?

I think the problem a lot of us have with Lawrie is about expectations.....................we have high hopes for him every game and his inconsistency does nothing but frustrate.

In fact for me he sums up the season so far. One of frustration; one where recruitment over the Summer was generally poor, leaving us with a weak squad, followed by such bad luck with injuries to key players, followed by the failure to replace injured key players due to what I assume must be financial restrictions, hence making the situation even worse

Chance to start the turnaround Saturday

Nail on the head. I also don't get why people so often suggest 4-4-1-1 with him behind a striker, like it's something so different to a 4-4-2. We get steamrollered in exactly the same way - or worse.

The failure this season has been a reluctance to go flat 4-5-1 with O'Keefe in there alongside Moult and Richman, Ginnelly and A.N.Other out wide, and either one of Ranks and Reeves up top. That is how we went on our run last spring.

Also, why people throw out these suggested lineups with 3 (or 5 depending how you see it) defenders I haven't the foggiest. That doesn't work either, and is arguably worse.

One formation that is certain tomorrow is that of the Question of Sport Quiz that follows the match.

Round 1 - Name The Year
Round 2 - One Minute Round
Half Time Interval for Food and Raffle
Round 3 - Mystery Guest (No it will not be a guest appearance from Lee Sinnott )
Round 4 - What Happens Next
Round 5 - Picture Board

Tickets are £6.00 on the night which includes Richie Bentley's magnificent Hot Pot.

There is no limit on team sizes, so get as many mates as you like down to help you out.

All proceeds go towards building the squad for next season regardless of which Division many of the doom merchants believe we may be playing in next season !

MarpleAlty,  you may be correct but is 4-5-1 that different than 4--4-1-1?

4 5 1 to my knowledge would include okeefe richman and moult and probably crowther and Gino on wings so it is different, and worked last season with Moult,Richman,Cav and even did well when Williams replaced the suspended or injured Cav

Yes - one includes Lawrie, one doesn't.

Alty just about desreve 1 nil lead

Usual woeful performance from this ref - fails to dismiss a player for an unnecessary two footed studs up tackle, penalty decision on Lawrie wrong and does not give a defender's handball that is clear from 70 yards away

Reeves my MoM today

Never stopped and won all his 50-50s with defenders - up for it

Lawrie and Sinnot did well in their positions and Ginnelly goal of the season

Ref overall poor

Totally agree Mick.
Lawrie and Sinnott play so much better in their rightful positions.
Good performance by all, but Aldershot were poor for most parts of the game.
Same again at Halifax please.

That refs never had a decent game here, loves himself. Wasn't there today, so won't comment except to say what a fantastic result
