Sit comfortably in a pub in cosy environment, or sit around a large table in a breeze block building where you have to shout across the table to others to be heard in a less than relaxing atmosphere. Hell I don't even usually drink before the game anyway, but that would be my take on it. A great place for half time beer but not for socialising before the match imho.

I haven't been in the CSH since the Welling away game was on telly in there. Has nothing been done to deaden the sound in there yet?

Does the bar still not take card payments?

Also, is there anything that can be done to make it a little more... homely. Part of enjoying your pint is the ambiance, and the hall, tables, lighting etc does seem to be a little sterile.

The sports hall does not take card payments yet it's posibley down to bank charges and insurence
It is a massive room to drink in compared to a few years back I love it at half time and after the game

I believe Brighton do the same - good idea!

I thought Bromley had a really good idea actually. They get some ale in from brewery local to the team they are hosting. For example when we played down there they had MPA on.

I suggested that we put up images around the bar - perhaps in chronological order. Framed pictures that could be replaced for a wedding or family party.

To be fair the social club can't do much more,I think it's just a fact that people rather drink in a pub, however it has big screens and the TV game so gets punters that way

Some fair points Bob
My point was simply that the club would be much better off if we could encourage those that already pay their entrance fee and contribute to the club through the turnstiles, to also have a pint every so often either pre or post match in the CSH.
At the moment the CSH has what you could call a small hardcore of patrons - hence my comment about fishing in a small pond

I don't know why I've never considered this before but could we get a voucher on entrance through the turnstiles offering x amount off a pint, or a free pint or whatever.

Not entirely practical I know but as Mick says. If we have 700 at a game and only 100-150 use the bar, what are the other 550-600 doing and why aren't they coming in?

Fair enough Mick. It would be great if more came in (although i rarely do so i have no room to criticise others).

Cash only doesnt help. A lot of pubs take cards now but if you are in a cash only town centre pub there will be a cash machine near. Where is our nearest? The town centre where the pubs are. More and more people use cards too, and the cash culture is declining. Cash only restricts spending too.

I think the CSH will show its true strengths outside of match days to be honest.

What about a match day happy hour? 12-1 or first x number of drinks

Once people are in they'll probably stay through.

I seem to remember reading in Woking's programme that they offer some sort of voucher deal for money off a pint pre match ballers... Think it had to redeemed by 2pm. Seems a good idea.

I've stopped taking cards in my taxi. Too many instances of the card being declined when it's time to pay, and a real attitude problem if you ask the punter to pay in advance, even if you set a competitive price.

There are always going to be situations where cash is king.

Nothing under 20 quid should be purchased with a credit card. Nothing boils my piss more than someone ordering a cup of coffee in a pub and paying via a debit card
