It sounds like we gave a very good account of ourselves today and we also have a game in hand over borehamwood in 21st. Cheltenham are top of the league for a reason and it won't be these sorts of games that define our season.

"A good account" and "game in hand" are the flimsiest of straws IMO. "Good accounts" and playing "nice stuff" are useless when accompanied by spurned chances and defensive errors. Come on Grahame and Lee - you need to spend a few quid and find something new. This is getting very tired now.

Not when it's away against top of the league, no. You can't have a go at the team for losing that match.

In our last 4 we've lost 2 to FGR and Cheltenham and won 2 against boreham wood and Bromley. I don't see any sort of crisis at the moment personally.

Apart from Southport all the other results went for us today so no worse off really than before we started.

We need a couple of wins though soon to keep the bottom 4 at bay.

Our last two fixtures have been away to fgr and Cheltenham. Was always going to be tough. We're ahead of where we need to be.

Southport have won 4 out of 5 but 3 of the wins were against Bromley, Gateshead and Welling who are all gash.

Calm down.

Mixed bag today I thought,  They were a big team but not a patch on FGR, don't know how they are top of the league.

Sinnot, Leather, Moult, Richman all excellent today, Deasey did what he had to and Reeves ran his socks off.

Nicky didn't look fit, especially after falling badly when fouled.

Rankine was rubbish today though - have been impressed where I've seen him before but Reeves was running past him to chase long balls down

We cannot control what Southport did today, nor any other team not facing us.

Cheltenham and FGR are both very good sides and some reasoned, honest and fair minded posters on here have said how well we played today. I will back their judgement. I also back the board and the manager to try and strengthen the squad.

We have achieved exactly the same results against Cheltenham as we did against Bristol Rovers last season. Let's try to keep things in perspective. The games against Chester over the holiday period will give us a better idea of where we stand compared to last season - the trip to Tranmere is something of an unknown quantity. Southport under a new manager were always likely to improve short-term.

As I said after the Leamington debacle (and it was a debacle, let's not gloss over that), it's not so much the result as the manner of defeat. The sheer inability to score is very worrying - George Heslop said as much on RR today. A dismal record of 22 goals in 24 league games this season, (36 in the last 38 league games), and a failure to convert any number of chances every game, regardless of the opposition.

We have a squad of 12 fully-fit senior outfield players (13 if you count Sam Heathcote), with 1 crocked (Marshall), another 2 (Densmore & Clee) who have each missed over half of the last 30 games, and a number of young lads who are never going to grace the turf in the first team. I can't believe people aren't more concerned.

We have 2 points fewer than at this stage last season. I am very concerned.

2points fewer yes , and a lot more injuries , every season we get the doom and gloom  merchants , half a season gone nearly , another half to go , im confident we can survive , the biggest problem in my opinion is we  aren't tacking the chances we are creating .
