Luca's was a blatant shirt pull that went on for a good 2 or 3 yards as he tried to wrestle his way onto the box - it started outside but I thought finished inside the area.  Never a red but a (second) yellow all day long, not even that ref could get that one wrong

Best view of Josh was actually from the end of the pitch as that would show him hitting the floor a yard before sliding into the player and would also show that his leg was not straight out in front of him when contact was made but almost at 90 degrees so no danger of studs impacting the opposition.

And yes they did over react to everything all afternoon

7:47 on the highlights, the red should be chalked off immediately and the FGR charged retrospectively with simulation

Everyone, I've just sent the usual pieces to the Evening News and Messenger, incorporating the latest on Josh's red card. I've copied and pasted the relevant couple of pars about Josh, below, just so you know what's happening. Hope that helps, though, frustratingly, it does look as though he will still miss the Colchester game. Not too much optimism, it would appear, that the red will just be wiped out completely..

Alty are appealing the straight red for O'Keefe, with chairman Grahame Rowley commenting: 'We felt it seemed very unjust. The tackle by Josh was not malicious, and the conditions were also a factor. They were far from ideal.'
However, Alty are still bracing themselves for the loss of their energetic midfielder, as well as Havern, for Sunday's FA Cup second-round tie at Colchester. A decision is expected this week, but even if the appeal is upheld, the fear is the red card may be downgraded to a yellow, which would take O'Keefe to five bookings and a one-match ban.

I would have to say that if this is the only footage available then, unless the Ref has made a total horlicks of his report, we won't have Josh for Colchester

He made a total horlicks of everything else so it's a possibility but I agree downgrade to a yellow is more likely.  Still worth doing as it gives him another 5 yellows before the next ban and only 1 game rather than 3 for a straight red

According to the FGR forum, they are also appealing their red card: http://forum.fgrfc.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=57591
