The pirch was not unplayable

We've played on far worse (any fixture at Droylsden, as Ecky reminded me !) but it certainly deteriorated as the game progressed. But I wouldn't have thought of calling it off at any stage.

I remember the pitch was absolutely disgraceful for that 3-1 loss on New Year's Day 2012. What a day that was... Attendance of around 600 and I reckon we easily had 400 fans there. I've a picture somewhere of us completely dominating that terrace behind the goal. In typical Alty fashion, any invasion fixture equals a loss.

It was like a bowling green that day compared to the ploughed field incident around 2002/2003'ish.

That was shocking - wasn't the grass about ankle high?

There were parallel grooves all over the pitch, like it had been ploughed ready for crops to be planted on it

Was that the game where there was practically no grass,  it looked like a chequer board pattern gouged into the mud, and Steve Hawes got sent off ? I was still raging by the time I got home.

Would love to see the refs report!!
I thought it was for verbal abuse, but their forum seems to think it was for stamping after the foul.

The ref indicates that it's stamping here (4 minutes):-

The way the situation is handled by the referee is exceptionally poor, particularly the seemingly random waving of the red & yellow card. This official needs taking to one side & given a good dressing down for his ineptness.

It'll be poor form if they rescind one and not the other. The FGR player completely sold (what he already knew to be) a poor official into evening things up with blatant theatrics. He should be retrospectively been sanctioned for his rolling around

not sure wasn't there, but the TV evidence backs up these decisions

Maybe instead of complaining about referee decisions as in the norm, we should hold our idiot players accountable?

maybe we shoudn't pass judgement about the idoitness or otherwise of our players without witnessing first hand the incident we are referring to.  I know we bang on about refs from time to time but that one was spectacularly bad for both teams
