The 1st ten mins we looked good , but after they scored we were bloody awful , why the hell play high long balls with that wind , Macc kept ball on the floor , and it payed off , having said that , we are down to the bare bones and need get some players on loan as others say , hope Luca is not out on sat .

Wrong formation, tired performance and second best for the ninety. A very horrible trip for a lot of us this evening.

Echo what's been said already. Couple of points, I'd rather Sam Heathcote commited that mistake tonight rather than in a game at 0-0, not forgetting he's put us 2-1 up in a game this season to get us the 3 points, im sure his dad will have a word along with Lee, not the most ideal game to throw him into. Need some loan players pronto, end of!

Not that I went but weird as it is to say it the more important result this week was beating Barnsley and banking the 18k prize money. We now need to use some of that plus the 7k the TV paid us to get a couple of desperately needed loan players in. There was always a likelihood of after the Lord Mayors show about last night. Macc and the idiotic element of their fanbase can have their moment after we humbled them twice last term but we need to make sure we are stronger now in the personnel department for the coming weeks.

You can't go into a derby game missing the likes of Densmore, Havern, Lawrie, Rankine and Clee. It was ridiculous. Even at 2 down we had to wait until 75 minutes for substitutions because Clee and Rankine weren't fit enough to last more than 15 mins.

We now have to do something it seems to me that the manager/club are loath to do - spend some of this cup money to bring in loan players.

They won't be world beaters but if we don't then these injured players will be rushed back and get injured more seriously. It's already happened with Densmore. It looks like it's happening with, Luca, Nicky and Ranks. We need these players got for Xmas because we're in a relegation fight folks, no mistaking it.

I'm surprised nobody else has made more of the formation - it hasn't worked before, and it was never going to work last night when down to the bare bones and knackered.

If Luca is going to be out for any time then we absolutely need to bring in someone on loan otherwise I can see us slipping further towards the relegation zone now. Granted we have time to pull back from there before the end of the season but a slip now is just going to make life harder later.

It started off so well last night too but went rapidly downhill after they scored the first goal. The second half was awful, with passes going astray all over the place, especially high balls where that nasty cross wind was catching them.

I can't see us winning on Saturday unless something is done. The time has come for action and not continued excuses as to why no action has been taken.

Come on Alty, we can do so much better than this.

Indeed, we truly are.

A draw for Boreham Wood at home on Saturday coupled with a defeat for our depleted 'squad' away at Bromley would enable them to leapfrog us.

Meanwhile, Torquay United now have a game in hand on us.

We clearly have a major problem scoring goals (only Southport have scored fewer than us) and our goal difference is now the third worst in the league.

Worrying statistics.

Surely, there must be some scope for reinforcements?

An FA Cup victory over Barnsley is most enjoyable, however it would be seriously devalued if in 12 months from now we were to be faced with the delightful prospect of an away league fixture at somewhere like Blyth Spartans or Salford City.

Agreed, we are in a relegation struggle. Agreed, some loan signings would seem necessary - with the conditions that may be attached which have been gone into previously on this forum. There does, however, appear to be an assumption that the money is immediately available for loan signings. It perhaps needs to be said that the only money the club will have physically got from the Cup games so far will be gate receipts (less expenses) - you don't physically get the prize money cheque until much later. What that probably means is that someone will have to put a hand in a by no means bottomless pocket to fund any loan transactions now, on the premise that the Cup money will eventually cover the expenditure. It seems evident that the original budget was effectively wrecked by Griffith. No doubt a way will be found to fund any loan signings, but it isn't perhaps quite as simple as it may look. Please bear practicalities in mind.

With that squad being small I'm not really sure why we signed bowerman we only play1 upfront anyway we have rankine, reeves and Lawrie behind them why not have 1 more defender instead of bowerman it's to late now anyway

I have said on previous threads that I hope our injury crisis, small squad and points dropped at home to bottom six sides does not come back to haunt us in April.............however if we have no money for reinforcements, then we have no money for reinforcements, we cannot go down the road of spending money we don't have.

The above said, everyone around us is bring players in and if we cannot compete in this area to try and pick up results, then maybe we cannot expect to be competitive week in week out in the Conference National and must begrudgingly concede we are punching above our weight in this division

Let's hope there is some money that can be made available following our cup run and that we can bring in a few to bolster the squad and hopefully give us that extra little bit to turn draws into wins......(Macc were very organised last night, but if we had got something in the first 20 mins, I don't think we would have lost - fine margins - but the available team selection last night probably meant the writing was on the wall before a ball was kicked - we have to give ourselves a better chance!)

We seemed to find the money to pay off Griffith. I'm not sure he wrecked the budget anyway, just replaced Gillespie as a drain on resources.

I find the rest to be largely drivel Mike, I know what you're saying about cash flow but the cheque from the FA is a certainty, it's not a maybe. If the cup money is not budgeted for as we're lead to believe then what else are we to use it for.

Granted we should look to use it next season, and not solely on the playing budget but the realities are if it isn't used in advance then we'll be at a level next season where costs are much lower. We don't even need world beaters we just need 3 lads for a month/ 6 weeks to fill a gap.

If, as per official website, Luca is unlikely to be fit on Saturday, we really need another defender in for Saturday, we cannot run this thin on the ground, what if one of the defenders pulls up after five minutes on Saturday? And also a direct player with some pace, Macc knew we had nothing in the locker pace wise on Tuesday and used it to their full advantage.By all means don't announce it if needs be and leave it until match day like Woking did against us with Holman, but we can't keep disadvantaging ourselves like this

We are coming up against the top scorer in the league on Saturday and I fear that without reinforcements at the back we could be severely punished. Fingers crossed that Lee can sort something out!
