Cheltenham - Match Thread
« on: September 03, 2015, 08:59:03 AM »

Another tough assignment, and need a result of sorts after Monday's disaster. Looks like parry will be available and in sure we'll hear more tonight on some of the others. Cheltenham have yet to lose this season and had two impressive victories over weekend.

I assume this Cheltenham fan doesn't really realise they've spent most of their history below us, and I certainly don't put them in the same bracket as Bristol rovers or Tranmere.....

"saw their ground on the BT highlights looks a right sh1t tip and we will be on an open terrace behind the goal it seems so let's hope it doesn't rain. Hoping for 200+ away fans up there but I see this game as a real acid test as it's our first to one of the smaller clubs who will clearly see us as a big scalp to take (they beat Rovers last season and Grimsby/Tranmere this)."

.......................Deasy
Dens.....Parry.....Leather...Griff
...Sinnott...Moult....Bowerman
........................Laurie
..................Rankin....Reeves

Big scalp my arse. WE were a big scalp when they put us out of the Trophy with a striker  in goal for them.

Their ground is unarguably better than ours, but finances have much to do with that.

Any team that play with 10 men for 82 minutes away at Torquay and win 3-0 have to be respected. This will be a very difficult game.

Saw the game on tv v Wrexham and they came back well from going behind...

Gary Johnson has got quite a big physical team.

Were in for a tough game against yet another top team..

As for the fan fretting about getting his/her hair wet..... Bring a fkn gamp..

I am sure to be in awe of this big scalps' 200+ fans. How will we cope with the swarm? Gary Johnson once knocking on the door of the premiership with the mighty Bristol City, will probably feel more at home with our comfortable non-league surroundings.

That midfield will be overwhelmed I'm afraid. Glad my son has a birthday party to attend.

We have broken the record!  That's our 20th Football League scalp. Amazing that we are allowed to play a Football League side in a league match.  I will be writing to the FA to confirm that Cheltenham are indeed in the Football League and that the record is ours.

All together now "Heathcote, Heathcote..."

You couldn't script that, Terry prachett couldn't pen that, what a fantastic result against (in my opinion) the best side we've played since we've been back down. Battled like warriors and would have been happy with a point, but you couldn't script that, lovely round of applause for Sam in the bad afterwards also. At this rate we might need to do some crowd funding for the reopening of the loan window...,

A quite Wilkinson-esque cameo from young Charles. A fine performance from the lads. Particular mention for Bowerman who looked a different player from Monday and terrorised them down the left.....but the real Man of the Match was the majestic Scott Leather.

Very, very happy to have maintained my 100% incorrect predictions record! Seriously, sounds like a great performance against a previously unbeaten team. Well done to Lee and all the players - I just wish they could perform as well against the league's crap!!!

Everyone loves a late late winner!
Top effort from the lads, Leather excellent yes (hope his beak is OK for Saturday - possible broken nose apparently), but Ranks was also superb up front and had a real ding-dong tussle with their no. 5 (Downes, sponsored by Just For Men). Deasy made some good saves and Griff had a very good game too.
Up to 16th..
