...tainted by the injury to Masha, absolutely gutted beyond words for him. It looked horrendous and I give him by best wishes for the recovery.

1-11 put in an enormous shift tonight, especially Michael Rankine (who's done nothing but work hard in the three games I've seen) and Stuart Coburn who kept us in the game; there was one double save in particular that was vintage Coburn. Those two have easily been our best players in these opening games of the season and they shone again this evening.

Further nods to Scott Leather, Shaun Densmore and of course George Bowerman who scored the weirdest / easiest brace in Altrincham history. I'm fairly certain the first goal never crossed the line. The second one was a gift as their keeper messed up.

That was a huge three points but more importantly a huge reason for the squad to get their heads up. Four games, four losses would have been an absolute nightmare but we battled fantastically and actually had the much better chances in the second half. I think their main chance was that mint free kick that hit the post, but we had two or three that could have been converted on a different day, especially when Rankine's(?) shot hit the post, hit the keeper and went out for a corner.

Our support was cracking considering we were missing a handful of vocal fans.

The first goal definitely crossed the line. We could clearly see it from where we were stood.

The keeper shat it. Came out for a routine corner, you could see him catch Rankine out of the corner of his eye and bottle it, hence why his defenders couldn't get into position to block Bauermanns effort.

Bauermann. We're going to have some fun working out what he is all about this season.

Talking of Bowerman, can someone please have a word with our kit man John Skelhorn about shortening his shorts.

He spent half the match tucking them in to the top of his underpants so he could look like Glenn Hoddle in the 1980's ?

if he'd spent more time concentrating on the match rather than the length of his shorts, he could well have had a hat trick tonight !

He could have had a hat trick if he'd belted away his easiest chance of the match instead of hesitating, unlike when he instinctively finished two half chances at a moments notice.

Weirdo.

First one isn't his - his shot is clearly stopped, it's Rankine who eventually gets the ball over the line.

It's about time short shorts made a return IMO.
