Today's Altrincham FC trivia question

A fairly gentle one, I suspect but here goes.....

What feat was John King the first to accomplish and Michael Twiss the last to achieve?

They both ate a Desperate Dan Cow Pie  :D

Johnny King probably wrestled the cow to death first.

They were both "contained" at Bath a la the season we played at Twerton when Bristol Rovers ground shared circa 1998?

We destroyed Bath in that first game at Moss Lane - a superb 4-0 win for our best ever side in full pomp.

A Twerton flavour to the question would have been Stan Allen - Michael Twiss, with Stans 60 yarder...

I remember on our last visit (5 years ago) we were talking about Stuart being past it before he pulled off a string of world class saves, including a full length dive very late in the game

Yes, had a look on their forum the other day, and a few mentioned that it was the best performance by any opposing keeper at Twerton Park. I forgot about how good he was that day.

John King scored Alty's first ever goal against Bath City during that 4-0 APL victory at Moss Lane on Saturday, 13th October 1979 to which ManagementGuru refers.

The shell-shocked Bath City manager on that particular afternoon, Bob Boyd, extolled the Robins as the best Non League team he had ever seen and joked that:

“Every time I counted the Altrincham team, there were 16 players. I thought at first we were giving the ball away too much…but, on second thoughts, I can’t remember us ever having it!”

Our beloved Michael Twiss was the last Alty player to score against Bath City when the two clubs played out a 2-2 stalemate at Twerton Park on Saturday, 6 November 2010.
