All the best Harold.

While we are on the topic of missing Radio Robins while in hospital I must confess to a month's absence.

Mrs Bath Alty has been in for 4 weeks being hacked about by surgeons.  Originally having her voice box removed due to cancer tumour stuck to the back of it (most unfair at just 51 and never smoked and uses barely a weeks recommended alcohol intake in a year!).  Then the bit of arm they used to reconstruct her throat died, not good, so operation no 2 to take it out again and finally op number three to remove her oesophagus and replace it with her stomach which was the only thing left they could join on to where her voice box used to be.  31 days since she last had a drink and at least a week to go.

So no big Christmas dinners and meals little and often is the way forward once it has all healed up and she is waterproof internally again.  That and breathing through a hole in her neck and having to learn to talk again (it doesn't work well if you have no air flow through your mouth or nose).......

She has done amazingly well bless her and is now home for a bit (so I might be back in radio robins land on Saturday).  Still praying we can dodge the radiotherapy if they got all the microscopic bits when they took the tumour out.

That is an amazing lot to have to go through and let's pray you can avoid the radiotherapy. I don't know if I could go through all that. It is terrible that cancer can strike so indiscriminately - there seems to be no justice - as I will always remember your kindness in the past.
My best to you both and espaecially a speedy and successful recovery to Mrs Bath Alty.

Good luck H ..
Make sure you have plenty of sarnies to supplement the hospital gruel  ;)

How you doing Ray?

Hi B4D. Have had a nightmare month mate. Glad to say my eyes are better than they were and I can stand daylight etc. My Bells Palsy is going to take a while to completely go but time is a great healer. Still don't think I could manage the drive to Alty just yet. Were looking at Telford away on the 11th to make a return to watching the lads.
Just to cap all that off Jill's Dad suddenly passed away on the12th Oct so we have had all that to deal with.

Thanks for asking fella, and looking forward to seeing you all in the near future.
I have noticed that the team perform well when the Sant's aren't there  ???

Blimey...that puts everything into perspective.....hopefully she will make a full recovery &...as you say......radiotherapy can be avoided. It's incredible what can be achieved, surgery wise, these days, isn't it?

By the way, my son was chatting to someone who knew you, on the train to the game on Saturday....I have it in my mind that he was a West Brom fan, but I'm not 100% sure.

All the best to Mrs. BA during her recuperation.

Chap called Pete Oakley possibly (late 20's black hair West Brom fan and talks to everyone!), small world....he worked with Mrs Bath Alty when we were in Bath and I played 5 a side with him, lives in the midlands somewhere now.

Best of luck to Mrs. Bath Alty, just read this, so apologies for delay in posting.

Sounds a pretty awful ordeal for her.  Radiotherapy isn't too bad if it is anywhere away from the head but I fear it could be quite a nasty experience ariund the throat area.

Truly hope she. Makes a good recovery.

Best wishes to you and your family (inc your Dad)

Thanks everyone for all the good wishes.I am now at home but am in so much pain that i think it will be saturday before i can sit and listen to Radio Robins.
Bath send my regards to Mrs Bath and hope all goes as well for her as my op did,she will be in the best of hands in the hospital.
Brian tell you mrs that the op, is very painful for about 6 weeks, but that the rewards are worth it.
I did ask the surgeon if i could dance after it and he said yes,to wich i repied that will be great as i could never dance before.  ;D
