Actually Bristol Rovers and Wrexham enjoyed their visits and I heard no complaints.  I guess they are more used to coming to a club whose safety licence was obtained while in League 2 and therefore forces segregation for all games

As to the East bar, I can only say I warned you

No problem,  all the Pubs are 15-20min walk to the ground.  There is also a bar for away fans in the West stand that you can get to after going through the turnstyles.

Sadly The Hive tend to prevent away fans using the Bar in the East stand.  Have a safe journey and lets hope for a decent game.

That's bollocks. Segregation isn't something solely used in the football league, so don't claim that the "mighty Wrexham and Bristol Rovers" accept it and enjoy it. Segregation is enforced at most Conference Prem games, but there are only a handful of clubs I could name from my years of following Altrincham that have a heavy handed Stewards approach. Some of my favourite games at this level have been segregated, but the Stewards have been friendly, courteous and good at their jobs. Segregation isn't the issue here.

Indeed segregation isn't in question.

I've been back today and I'm pretty sure this won't be last we hear of this.

Interesting, so you think you would've been treated as badly if you had come in and mixed with the home fans?

My point was simply that the fans of some clubs don't like they way they are treated at the Hive and some do.  Fans of ex league clubs know they will be searched on entry and turned away if they have alcohol, they are unlikely to wander out of the bar towards the pitch with a pint in their hands and therefore they are less likely to come into conflict with stewards and police.

Lincoln and Woking fans love the place because they can jump up and down and make a lot of noise.  Someone claimed that the Hive wouldn't cope with Bristol Rovers coming but actually my experience is that it copes better with a bigger crowd and generally it's those who bring under 100 who feel that there are too many stewards and police, and that they are heavy handed.  So I would suggest that segregation of small numbers of away support at the Hive is exactly the reason why they make such a hash of it.

They have very short memories then.  I remember average crowds of around 600 at Underhill before you all got delusions of grandeur.

And Wealdstone!

By the way I once saw Enfield beat Barnet 7-0 at Underhill in the FA Cup.

Enfield committed suicide by leaving Southbury Road. But in terms of support Barnet always had more. I remember when they played each other in the cup at Enfield and the home support were outnumbered three to one.

Interesting, Lincoln and Woking fans have been on Beeschat or whatever it is called to say that have they? Copy some quotes on here then to confirm that. Just accept that your club are so unwelcoming that this thread is so long. Underhill was a lovely place to go, the bar in the corner was open to all, everyone got on. No axe to grind with Barnet fans, your club owner is a well known difficult character, most of your fans don't like him or where you play now. Stop defending the indefensible.

The fact that we are having this discussion about a fifth tier football match is utterly ridiculous. I sometimes think that promotion wasn't such a good thing - this is the 2nd such incident before the end of September. It's going to be a long season.

As I said before, on arrival at the ground I found the stewards very friendly and helpful. My youngest son was surprised to see the presence of the police.
The bar staff were also pleasant and thanked me for pointing out that they undercharged me when I queried the total for a pint of London p***water and 2 small coca cola's was only £4 - though I kind of regret being so honest when they said it was actually £8, which I view as a rip off. The half time issue was odd and I thought that they were targeting the bar staff as the stewards and police were acting strangely.
I cant see how a non-league club that struggles to get much over 1,000 fans when they are winning, can afford outside security firms. We got poor treatment at Aldershot this season and historically their stewards were good. In comparison, Stockport County stewards were brilliant last season both home and away.
I think most Alty fans find the culture of being 'nice to your face, then stab you in the back', which is rife in the south, hard to accept unlike those of us that live with it.
As for the Police force, the Met are not the worse as our locals cant even implement safe street parking.
I know some of you object to us coming down to their level, but I think that the only way to voice our objection to such treatment is for the club to write to both Barnet and Aldershot and advise that their fans will be segregated and housed solely in our away end for the return fixtures.

As you may have guessed I look back on other forums to see what fans thought of their vist.
This is being discussed on another forum and you can look here if you want to see both Woking and Lincoln fans saying they had no problems
http://www.thefootballforum.net/index.php?/topic/228112-saturday-monday-pre-match-matchday-thread-2022914/page-3

Since we moved there have been fans from four teams who have complained that they were treated poorly.  Other than yourselves -
Salisbury (Terrace closed and they had to sit in the stand, the hive changed policy for small away followings after this)
Dartford (Brought a small brewery on the coach and one fan arrested for thowing the pint he had brought onto the terrace at a steward, they are the reason all coaches get searched)
Cambridge (Crowding when trying to leave the game caused a run in between fans and police\stewards, since then a second gate is opened when larger crowds visit and there was no problem with bigger clubs like Luton)

There has been no bar in the corner of underhill for 20 years, the only bar being outside the ground in the cricket pavilion unless you paid for hospitality. Underhill can no longer get conference level grading due to access issues so it's not like there was a choice.
Most fans are happy with our chairman, there are some who are not.  He is actually very approachable and can often be found helping out behind the bar.  Most of our fans actually prefer the Hive, we have a Back2Barnet campaign to raise funds for a return but so far there has been little appetite for it except amongst a small group of about 20 fans.  We have about 100-200 fans who have chosen not to follow the club to the Hive but their number is slowly reducing and a successful season would go a long way to healing the wounds.

That's it from me, I hope you feel less abused by others and have a good season

You should be a politician Bees Knees if you genuinely think that other forum thread exonerates your club from what was obviously the case yesterday, some of it is not even about Barnet and plenty of it confirms that your stewarding and policing are unacceptable. Many on your own forum are saying that this is becoming a theme and things need to be done. If that was my club's stewards I would be hanging my head in shame and apologising, not trying to defend it.

I think we're being a bit unkind to the Barnet fan on this thread, who seems a genuine and friendly guy. My argument is not with the Barnet fans but with the structure and set-up of the club at The Hive. It makes me once again appreciate how vital it us for the character of our club that all the people who greet supporters at ML are volunteers and therefore fans, not hired goons. I'm almost glad we didn't win the league in 91 if this is what it would have done to us.
