The main lessons from today are that if fit Leather has to start and that Griffin is either to slow to cover for a terrible lack of positioning sense or his positioning isn't good enough to cover for terrible lack of pace.  Cavanagh was excellent at breaking up the play, distribution was iffy at times but will be a big player for us.  Good to see an attacking line up and taking the game to the opposition.

We were OK on the whole, some good spells of possession but some shocking defensive lapses were punished ruthlessly.  Not sure Aldershot will create that much and if the league is similar standard to last time we were here then they are mid table.  If we don't sort out that LB spot we will struggle this year as I can see it costing us at least a goal a game and we can't afford that.

Once we can settle him back in, I'd play Leather at left back. Marshall played well when he came on and would be OK alongside Havern.

A well oiled machine doesn't get touched. Havern and Leather don't mess!

Once he came on Leather didn't put a foot wrong apart from a mistimed header where the low sun was clearly in his eyes. That lad will improve and improve as he grows and gets stronger.

Leather didn't start as due to his new job has been training down south and missed training. He will be unavailable on Tuesday but will be ok after that. S Williams had a family issue so didn't travel.

Positives to take from today, but we cannot allow to give the opposition the chances we did today. Awful defending on all 3 of them.

He didn't start cos of his new job? What does that mean? He wasn't working yesterday was he? Guess he may have missed a training session mid week maybe. Has Sinnknob punished him for that or has he deemed him therefore not fit enough to play 90 mins?

Like someone else says, don't tinker with something that isn't broken.

The centre back pairing is Leather and Havern. Full stop. Leave it alone.

Left back? Yeah, we've got a problem but we haven't at centre back. Well, we have now cos the managers creating one.

Leather is on a training course down South. Because of that he won't be available on Tuesday, didn't train last week, and may not train this week. I am fully behind Lee on this one,and would have done exactly what he did yesterday. Marshall should definitely start against Lincoln given the circumstances.....and if we get a result (please) I would probably start Leather on the bench next Saturday.

Are we going to have another season of people making stuff up and then being outraged by it on here?

Leather has ( with permission) missed a big a chunk of pre season training due to his new job and training down south.  He won't have taken part in any drills or trained with team so he was started on the bench.  The manager hasn't announced he that he doesn't rate him or that Williams is a better player.
