Card Happy Ref on Saturday?
« on: August 07, 2014, 03:37:02 PM »

Might have to mind our P's & Q's. Chris Powell from Dorset is the man in charge for the game. He took charge of fourteen Conference South matches last season while featuring as an assistant referee frequently in the Football League. He last officiated in the Conference Premier in the 2010/11 season, where he showed 32 yellow cards and one red in just seven matches.

Like it or not, and people will try to tell you that it's no different between levels..The Officials we get in the Conference National will be more switched on to potentially sanctionable offences.

We don't just need to mind our ps and qs on Saturday but all season.

These officials are only one step away from the National List and are assessed exactly the same way as Football League and Premier League Referees. The key thing is not to give them a decisom to make as to whether a card need be issued

After some of the jokers last season, I think a strong ref is just what we need.

After three seasons of 'if it's above ground it's fair game' referees it WILL be a culture shock to get back to Conf Nat style officials. However, it's something we will have to get used to quickly - on and off the field.

Don't think it will cause us much of an issue, we aren't a particularly mouthy team and aside from Richman's obscure once a month two footed sliders we aren't that dirty.

Valid point that we should be careful but I don't think we will have to change to much.
