The lads I now who drink in there said it wasn't making any money so had to close, not to sure on the future of it though.

A shame if true, sign of the times with pubs. We need to support our locals or lose them forever.
More for the club bar I suppose but a terrible shame nonetheless.

Sorry to hear that The George has closed we used to go in there occasionally when we were in Alty. My lad has a pub fortunately it does very well with both wet sales and food but he has also had a couple that struggled and sadly that is the norm rather than the exception these days

available for lease according to the Lees site 22k rent per annum . round figures 2 grand a month plus rates , utilities and staff etc . got to shift alot of beer, which is purchased at inflated prices as you are tied to the brewery, to cover that lot .

and so is the tatton soon there will be no pubs left in alty !!!

Correct, local chap, been busy since reopening and extending the beer garden round the front taking in some of the car parking spaces
