you should set your sights higher than20th alty are better than that, lets go for the play offs.Alfreton get crowds of 600 they did well in the conference so can we come on alty just signed a new player Joe Jackson.

Congrats on your promotion.

Look at us(halifax) we finished 5th in our conf north season and ended up in the playoffs this season.
Our best players this year, were signed from winsford and Buxton.

We may suffer from 2nd season syndrome next season, but here a few pointers about the skrill prem.

1)You need height, lots of it.
2) make the most of your set pieces
3) keep a relatively young squad(fitness wise)

Chester went down the road of signing experienced journeyman. While we signed young unknown players. We weren't the most skilful but were the 2nd highest scoters in the league with only one striker. Don't fear anyone and you will do alright.

We beat the likes of grimsby 4-0, aldershot 4-0, lincoln 5-1 and even luton 2-0. This league has evened out and their is
A neglible difference between part time and full time teams.

Superb post.....what Halifax have achieved this season should be an inspiration to clubs like us.

Indeed we should take a lot of encouragement and inspiration from what Halifax achieved this season. I hope we can emulate that next season.

In addition to tall players etc., I think it's imperative that we have the right mental approach from the outset. None of this lily-livered, we're lucky to be here/part time and proud of it stuff, let's play our football and aim as high as we can. Nobody's under any illusions about the size of some of the other clubs in the conference national division, but we're there on merit and should aim to keep the momentum going. I think the young age of our squad will stand us in good stead as there is plenty of scope for continuity and further progress. We'll need a bit more quality and strength in depth in the squad, but I do believe that both of these things will be addressed and am feeling optimistic for the future.

I'm going to enjoy being 4th in the conference until August, pure and simple.

Maybe should rephrase to 'wouldn't be disappointed to finish 20th '. We should aim higher and why not,as we are better equipped as a club on the whole as compared to 2005. Always think your 1st year after promotion is to ensure staying up,and go from there.
