Northwich Victoria manager Lee Ashcroft fails in an appeal and is banned for 10 matches for abusing a female opposition coach.

An independent Football Association commission found Ashcroft guilty of using abusive and/or insulting words in a game with Gresley FC on 12 January. Ashcroft, 40, said in May he would appeal against the ruling.

In addition to the ban, Ashcroft has also been fined £800.

An FA statement says: "Ashcroft denied the charge. However, on Tuesday at a personal hearing, the Independent Regulatory Commission found the charge proven.

...which means that it would appear that Ashcroft lied to the hearing.  Or else the poor lamb is deluding himself.

I recollect Lee Ashcroft engaging in a 'frank exchange of views' with Graham Heathcote on the pitch after our 1-0 FA Cup victory at Kendal Town back in October 2007.

Didn't the Alty team and officials then swiftly depart, leaving behind the post match spread of sandwiches etc...?

Yes, I believe you're right. It was left to the fans to take on the "burden" of the buffet table.

I think he expressed a desire that GH would soon be sacked.
