Slightlly "off topic" perhaps and, if so I apologise

Altrincham's own Select Group Referee Anthony Taylor has been promoted to the FIFA Referee list from January 1st 2013

A superb achievement for a local lad and (as ESPN have mentioned on more than one occasion) an Alty Fan as well.

Well done Mr Taylor. He seems to have matured very quickly as a ref since he was promoted to do Prem league games.

I would think that its a natural progression on to the FIFA books when you have refereed a pre season friendly Alty v Burnley XI fixture  ;)

Well done Anthony

Two poor sending off decisions today from Mr Taylor during the West Ham v Everton game.

Yes, feet were a touch high but i think a booking for each would have been sufficient.

One correct (2nd red) and one in correct (the first)

I know that I'm likely to be pilloried for supporting a friend/colleague but I honestly think that both were Red Cards

The first (Carlton Cole) may be a touch harsh but it did endanger the safety of an opponent and was made with (marginally) disproportionate force

The second one (Gibson) is a Red Card all day, week, month and year

Absolute shocking refereeing yesterday that decided the result of the match. At least 4 wong decisions- the 3 raised feet and a disallowed goal.

To be honest I think Anthony is one of the better Premiership Referees that had an awful day for which West Ham paid the price. The other times I have seen him referee either on TV or live, he has been very good and I can recall only one really poor decision where he didnt award United a blatant penalty at Wolves. Usually my only objection is that because he lives in the borough of Trafford he should not be permitted to referee games involving United or City. I also wonder if the claim (and am not certain that it is his personal claim) that he is an Alty fan is a matter of convenience and is he as quick to claim he is a mate of ATS as vice versa.

As for consistancy,  well the only thing consistant is the luck and favourable decisions Everton have had this season. Sure Moyes is a great manager but Everton are a Championship standard club in a false position.

Sorry, I couldnt resist on this occasion to reply to a topic that has nothing to do with Altrincham Football Club posted by every referee's favourite fan.

I remember him going our matches he was a pal of ballers also moyes is a good manager certainly not great hence the no trophies in ten years as in the decisions I didn't see them i wouldn't watch west ham v eveton if it was in the garden

Redhill

He has never ever claimed to be a friend of mine, why would he need to do that?

He is though and I am proud to say that to anyone no matter how much stick they might give him / me / Referees in general.

The Alty fan issue has already been dealt with

Just saw this and had to ask...

What do you mean by that? Everton are probably the fourth biggest club in this country in terms of fanbase, historical achievements and so on. And their current squad is pretty good. Sure they're slowly going bankrupt under Kenwright, but I'm not sure how that makes them a "Championship standard club".
