If 2 or 3 are released that means finding up to 6 decent enough players for the right positions, who will accept Alty wages and, if currently full time, willing to go part time and who will cost nowt and are, one way or another, available and, if at a lower level, may be unproven for BSN.

I fear improvement to the squad will not be easy!

for me its not even about finding full timers and bringing them down to our level on a contract, i would go as far as saying i would prefer a few loanees from a higher level that have a point to prove ie shotton, sheridan etc, hard to find i know but if GH could then im sure LS can too.

For every loanee such as Sheridan and Shotton there are too many who don't make any impact. In fairness one of the issues we have is that few are here long enough to make a real impact or to really care!

There's nothing new about any of the points raised in this thread. They are the same difficulties faced by most managers on a relatively limited budget. The way I see it we have two options:

1) Do nothing and remain mid-table for the rest of the season.

or

2) Strengthen the squad and at least give ourselves a chance of going up.

Doing nothing is the worst thing we could possibly do right now.

I didn't say it wasn't competitive, but in the greater scheme of things it is still relatively limited. My point being that any manager working with a degree of budgetary constraint (ie. not Crawley/Fleetwood) will inevitably face the challenges outlined in the original post of this thread.

I would look at the possibility of bringing in a big name player who is nearing the end of his career and thinking about going into management who might consider a short term job as player/trainee manager. Paul Scholes or Ryan Giggs would double attendances. Fergie might be interested in some sort of loan arrangement.

you don't need the budget of Crawley/Fleetwood to get BSN play offs
